Erica lives in Washington with her husband, daughter, and their rescued Schnauzer mix, Teddy.
Long Version (516 Words)
Originally from the UK, Erica Lynn holds dual North American and British roots, with citizenship in the UK, Canada, and the United States. Her personal and professional journey has taken her across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, shaping a global perspective grounded in compassion, resilience, and community impact.
She is the proud mother of Jade, wife to Michael, and devoted “fur mom” to many animals – currently Teddy the rescued Schnauzer Mix.
At the core of Erica’s life are the values that guide both her writing and personal mission: honesty, integrity, love, courage, trust, and faith. Her greatest ambition is simple yet profound — to leave a meaningful legacy and positively impact the lives of both people and animals.
From an early age, Erica was deeply driven by empathy and a desire to help others. At just seven years old, she created a homemade perfume business to raise money for toys for a local children’s home supporting children with disabilities. That early act of kindness sparked a lifelong commitment to service, rescue work, and advocacy.
Her love of animals began shortly thereafter with Sandy, a guinea pig from her primary school classroom in Timperley, England. Thanks to the kindness and intuition of her teacher, Mrs. Frost of Cloverlea Primary School, Erica was ultimately chosen to bring Sandy home for the summer — a moment that would begin a lifelong bond with animal rescue and care.
Over the years, Erica’s family welcomed many beloved rescue and stray cats into their lives, including Uli, Coco, Norm, and Buster. But it was Tyson — the spirited kitten who appeared at Erica’s apartment door on her very first night living alone in Toronto — who would leave the deepest imprint.
Tyson quickly earned his name after playfully “boxing” at Erica before biting her ear, evoking the legendary Mike Tyson. Their bond became the inspiration behind Tyson’s Whisker-Tingling Adventures and the whimsical world of Whiskerville.
As Erica shares on her website: “Some years ago, Tyson came into my life: a clever, cookie-loving cat whose tiny pawprints left a huge mark on my heart. Though Tyson has since crossed the rainbow bridge, his playful spirit inspired Tyson’s Whisker-Tingling Adventures — a way to keep his memory alive and share the joy he gave me with young readers everywhere.”
Throughout her career in human resources and leadership, Erica has consistently championed fundraising, diversity, inclusion, literacy, and community engagement initiatives. Outside of her professional work, she has volunteered with animal rescue organizations around the world, fostered dogs, supported stray animal efforts, and continues to work alongside the dedicated team at the Everett Animal Shelter in Washington State to help expand volunteer programs and increase access to lost-and-found and adoption services.
These experiences have shaped three deeply held beliefs that continue to influence her work and storytelling:
Most animals are kinder than some humans.
Kindness is free.
Literacy matters — especially in the welfare and care of animals.
Through her writing, Erica hopes to inspire compassion, imagination, empathy, and a lifelong love of animals in readers of all ages.
