Tyson’s Official Guide to Humans…
Tyson the cat with a hat like Sherlock Holmes, and cards with words describing humans
Humans need a little help
Hello, fellow animal experts. Today I am sharing everything I have learned about humans. They mean well, but they can be puzzling.
Rule 1: Humans cannot hear a thought
You may stare at the treat cupboard with great intensity. You may blink slowly. You may even place one paw on the cupboard door. Somehow, a human can still ask, “What do you want?” Be patient. Training takes time.
Rule 2: They enjoy tiny rectangles
Humans carry glowing rectangles everywhere. Sometimes they point one at you and say, “Look this way!” The correct response is to turn around. This encourages them to practice.
Rule 3: Humans believe they own chairs
They buy a chair, place it in the sun and then act surprised when an animal sits there. A sunny chair belongs to whoever finds it first. This is one of the oldest laws in Whiskerville.
Rule 4: They show love in useful ways
Humans fill water bowls, arrange cozy beds and learn which ear scratches are just right. The best humans also give animals space when they need it. A wagging tail, a purr or a quiet retreat can all mean something different. Smart humans watch and listen.

World Animal Day is a fine time to celebrate every creature—pets, wildlife and even squirrels who borrow acorns without filling out the proper paperwork. Animals make the world more curious, lively and kind. In return, we can treat them gently and protect the places they call home.

Family fun: Be an animal observer
Choose an animal you can safely watch—a pet, bird or squirrel. Write or draw three things it does. What might its body language be telling you? Observe quietly and never chase or corner an animal.
